Dates and Date Paste

Dates are known as nature’s candy for good reason! There are many types of dates. One of the most popular is the Medjool date, which is incredibly sweet and has a very meaty, creamy texture. An excellent natural sweetener, you can use dates in their whole form in recipes or as a ground paste. Date paste is incredibly easy to make. Below are step-by-step instructions.

To make: Empty a pack of dried dates into a tupperware container. Cover with water and let sit in refrigerator overnight or for at least 8 hours. In the morning, remove the water but do not discard. Put dates into a food processor or blender and add a couple tablespoons of water to enable dates to puree. If paste is too thick, keep adding water until the mixture loosens and purees. Puree until a thick paste is formed. The longer you puree, the thicker and finer the paste.

Storage: Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
